The Discreet Mulliez Dynasty: A French Model

The Mulliez family, grouped within the Mulliez Family Association, constitutes one of the most powerful and most discreet economic groups in France. Founded in the North of France, the dynasty controls a portfolio of about 130 retail brands that shapes the French territory, including Auchan, Decathlon, Leroy Merlin, Kiabi, Boulanger, Norauto, and Flunch. This empire accounts for nearly 700,000 employees worldwide and generates cumulative annual revenue estimated between 90 and 100 billion euros. Some branches show remarkable revenues: Decathlon exceeds 16 billion euros in turnover, while Auchan is close to 32 billion.

Thanks to a strict shareholder agreement (the motto "All in everything"), the family guarantees strong internal cohesion and absolute control, without resorting to financial markets, which maintains a certain opacity. Their professional fortune is estimated at around 26 billion euros, making them one of the leading economic clans in the country. Though discreet, the Mulliez family embodies a little-known example of success, whose brands, familiar to all French people, today deeply shape our territories.
